The Meduxnekeag Outdoor Environmental Education Program was created in 2015, with the goal of providing middle school students with a hands-on outdoors, inquiry based, curriculum linked learning experiences through 3 different climate change monitoring and tracking experiments.
In grade 6 students focus on the biodiversity of life within the forests, with a special focus on rare and endangered species. Students also practice the scientific method during a hands-on tree measuring experiment that provides them with an opportunity to use forestry tools and techniques as well as traditional methods.
In Grade 8 Students learn how to test different water characteristics and explore why water quality is important to society and nature.
