CLIMATE RESILIENT FOREST PROJECT

CLIMATE RESILIENT FOREST PROJECT

Climate Resilient Forests is a 2025-2026 Meduxnekeag River Association project focused on strengthening native forests and helping our woodlands adapt to climate change.

The project combines hands-on restoration - like native seed collection, forest surveys, and tree planting - with practical education for the community. New resources include the Climate-Resilient Forests brochure, the Our Forests & Climate Change newsletter, and a Climate Resiliency Planting report based on surveys of over 800 trees across four properties.

Together, these tools and actions support healthier, more resilient forests in the Meduxnekeag Valley. Thanks to the New Brunswick Environmental Trust Fund for making this project possible.

Check out the slides below to be introduced to some climate resilient tree species! We have gone over tree identification, characteristics, and site preferences.

You will notice that each tree has their common name first, followed by their scientific name.
